What the Android build supports
Android exposes a proper VPN API, so this build is close to the desktop one. The only real difference is where the kill switch lives.
| Feature | On Android | What that means here |
|---|---|---|
| Kill switch | On Android Supported | What that means here Uses the Android system setting, so it holds even if the app is force-stopped. |
| Split tunneling | On Android Supported | What that means here Per application. Pick which apps bypass the tunnel from the installed-app list. |
| Auto-connect | On Android Supported | What that means here On untrusted Wi-Fi, or on mobile data, or both. |
| Always-on VPN | On Android Supported | What that means here Supported through the Android system setting of the same name. |
| Start on boot | On Android Supported | What that means here Reconnects after a restart without you opening the app. |
| Multi-hop | On Android Supported | What that means here Two servers in different countries. |
| Protocols | On Android Supported | What that means here WireGuard and OpenVPN (UDP and TCP). |
| Custom DNS | On Android Supported | What that means here Your own resolvers, with leak protection always on. |
| Quick Settings tile | On Android Supported | What that means here Connect or disconnect from the notification shade. |
| Android TV | On Android Supported | What that means here Install CopVPN from Google Play on your Android TV: the same listing as the phone app, with its own TV interface. Android 7.0 or later. Same account, same plan. |
The kill switch on Android is the system setting called "Block connections without VPN", found under Settings › Network › VPN. The app turns it on for you and links straight to the screen, but Android owns it — which is why it keeps working even if the app is force-stopped.

Android questions
Why does the VPN disconnect on its own?
Almost always battery optimisation. Android suspends background apps aggressively, and a suspended VPN drops. Go to Settings › Apps › CopVPN › Battery and set it to Unrestricted. This one change fixes the large majority of reports we receive about Android.
What is the difference between the app toggle and Always-on VPN?
The in-app auto-connect setting asks the app to reconnect. Always-on VPN is an Android system setting that tells the operating system not to let any traffic out unless the VPN is up. The system one is stronger, and it is where the real kill switch lives — Settings › Network › VPN › CopVPN › Block connections without VPN.
Can I install it without Google Play?
Google Play is how CopVPN is installed on Android, and it is the supported way to get the app and keep it up to date. If your device has no Google Play, contact support and they will tell you what is available for it.
Does it work on Android TV?
Yes. Install CopVPN from Google Play on your Android TV. It is the same Play listing as the phone app, with its own TV interface, and it needs Android 7.0 or later, the same as the phone app. It uses the same account and the same plan.
Does switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data drop the tunnel?
No. WireGuard handles the handover without renegotiating, so the connection survives walking out of Wi-Fi range. You may see a second of stalled traffic, but the tunnel stays up.
Will it drain my battery?
Some, but less than most people expect — WireGuard is efficient and idles cheaply. Expect a few percent over a full day of normal use. Older protocols cost more, which is another reason WireGuard is the default.
